In order to combat negative perceptions and stereotypes in the region, BYDS has teamed up with Sydney’s independent youth broadcaster FBi radio’s All The Best and local Western Sydney high schools, to train up young people to collect stories of “strength” from their community.
The Stories of Strength and Resilience Project is all about inspiring the community to stand united against forces of hate, violence and fear.
Recently, they invited local artists to create visual artworks to accompany their contributors' stories. Muzi was invited to illustrate the story of one of their students, Tanya. She interviewed her dad Kermal about his life growing up in Turkey.
The was launched on the 17th of April at the Bankstown Art Centre and it will be exhibiting to the public until the 26th of April 2019.
