Mural Art for Ginger & Jamu at Nusa Lembongan, Bali, Indonesia

Muzi was commissioned to create a Mural Art for Ginger & Jamu, a blend of a cafe, a community and a yoga centre on the beautiful island of Nusa Lembongan.

The idea was to create fun artwork for people to feel embraced and inspired. It brings the diversity and colourfulness of the tropical flora inviting all spectators to look beyond the mural and connect with the nature around them.

To compose the artwork Muzi chose various colourful species such as Frangipani, Hibiscus, Yellow Lotus, Areca Palm, Calathea leaf, Monstera Deliciosa, Grevillea and the Anemone.

The first artwork of this project was incorporating a different kind of bird. However, after experience some time in the island, Muzi has decided to exchange to the beautiful Bali Starling, also known as Jalak Bali.

This bird was originally found in the northwestern parts of Bali island, in an area called Curik. You can easily identify this unique species by its bright, white feathers, distinctive blue marks around its eyes, black wing tips and a beautiful plume of feathers atop its head.

Currently, numerous efforts are being taken by the government and non-government agencies to preserve and grow the numbers of the Bali Starling in various places throughout Bali. Fortunately, through these programs, it’s been noted that the birds’ numbers are growing.

The artwork measures 7m (w) x 1,5m (h).
